“Garou Knights”
Sabertooth has a new master! And Fairy Tail may be on top of the Grand Magic Games, but below the palace, Natsu and the others are still trapped in Palace Hell. And then things get worse when the hunters become the hunted… by the Garou Knights!
The Review: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
This episode is about friendship, like most of Fairy Tail is, but also combination attacks. The Garou Knights are the city’s best defenders who work in the shadows and do the dirty jobs that no one wants to be tasked with. They’re assassins. The kind of assassins no one wants to be caught employing, so I don’t know why they’re under employ at all buy hey. They’re pretty cool fighters. One uses Paper Magic, another uses Plant Magic, and the three others are unidentified as of yet.

The fight showcases Natsu and Wendy at their best, fighting alongside each other. Wendy hasn’t had many chances to show off her fighting prowess, since she focuses on healing and support magic. But her Dragon Slayer Magic comes in handy here and works in perfect combination with Natsu. The problem being that the two opponents, Cosmos (the Plant Mage) and Kamika (the Paper Mage), have a better combination. The problem, it seems, is that they don’t have the power of feelings.
Yes, the power of feelings. It’s one of those really stupid shonen terms that I just kind of root for when it comes down to it. I mean, I’ve seen it played out many times in Fairy Tail and every single time I get a little lump in my throat and feel a sudden urge to thrust my fist into the air in victory.
Thus far, it hasn’t played into the fight of Fairy Tail v. the Garou Knights, but I’m sure it will. It has played into the Gray v. Rufus fight, but that’s long over and the shot I wanted for a screencap last episode is now featured in this episode. Oh well, the sacrifices I make.
But it’s also played in unexpectedly with Sabertooth. They’re seen as the ruthless guild, but it’s Minerva that brings it up. In a flashback, she wants to pump Sting up for the oncoming fight in the Grand Magic Games. She says his feelings for Lector will provide that push for him. What’s been holding him back is his lack of feelings or emotions toward anything.
